Arabic needs no word for is
The festival words go straight into sentences, and Arabic needs no word for "is": - العيد مع العائلة = "the festival is with the family". Two things side by side, joined by مع (maa - with). Nothing stands for "is". - أحب الموسيقى والرقص = "I like music and dancing". A verb sentence, opening with أحب (uhibbu - I like) and joining the two things with و (wa - and).
