Your day in Persian
This module is about daily life: the times of day, the things you do, and the places you go. As before, every word is shown three ways: the script, the sound (a simple transliteration in brackets), and the English. Persian reads from right to left.

The parts of the day: - روز (ruz) = day - صبح (sobh) = morning - عصر (asr) = evening - شب (shab) = night

At the café and the market
When you describe a meal out or a trip to the market in Persian, start with what you can see. All of these words are on the Edexcel vocabulary list. At the café table: آب (ab) water, کیک (keyk) cake, نان (nan) bread. On the market stall: سیب (sib) apple, موز (moz) banana. And 3 more you will need: تخم مرغ (tokhm-e morgh) egg, شیر (shir) milk, پنیر (panir) cheese.

Two places that fill a day: - مدرسه (madrese) = school - خانه (khane) = house / home So مدرسه رفتن (madrese raftan) means "to go to school".

How the writing works
Persian uses the Perso-Arabic script, read from right to left, with the letters joined up into cursive words. There are no capital letters. Persian adds four letters of its own for sounds Arabic does not have: پ گ چ ژ (p, g, ch, zh).
Persian builds the sentence its own way
