What you'll cover

Your day in Russian 🌅

This module is about **daily life**: the times of day, the things you do, and the places you go. As before, every word is shown three ways: the **script**, the **sound** (a simple transliteration in brackets), and the **English**.

Times of day 🕐

The parts of the day: - **день (den)** = day - **утро (utro)** = morning - **вечер (vecher)** = evening - **ночь (noch)** = night

Match each word to its meaning

  • день (den)
  • утро (utro)
  • вечер (vecher)
  • ночь (noch)
  • day
  • morning
  • evening
  • night

Everyday activities 🍽️

Some common things you do each day (in the "to do" form): - **есть (yest)** = to eat - **пить (pit)** = to drink - **спать (spat)** = to sleep - **идти (idti)** = to go

Match each verb to its meaning

  • есть (yest)
  • пить (pit)

  • to sleep
  • to go

Places 🏫

Two places that fill a day: - **школа (shkola)** = school - **дом (dom)** = house / home So идти в школу (idti v shkolu) means "to go to school".

How the writing works 🔤

Russian uses the **Cyrillic** alphabet, read **left to right**, and, like English, it **has capital and small letters**. Watch out for **false friends**: some letters look like English ones but sound different, for example **С** = s, **Р** = r, **Н** = n, and **В** = v.
