Gujarati is written in its own script, and this module gives you core words to talk about the environment and how to protect it. Words for the exam

Two of these are Higher-tier vocabulary: સૂર્યની ઊર્જા (suryani urja), solar power, and સ્વાવલંબન (svavalamban), self-reliance. They both matter for the environment: solar power is clean energy from the sun, and self-reliance means a community meeting its own needs sustainably. Both are worth recognising even at Foundation.

Writing about the environment

You can now recognise the key words. In the exam you might write about an environmental issue, and you can weave these terms in. A strong answer names something to protect (such as વન્યજીવો, wildlife) and a solution (such as સૂર્યની ઊર્જા, solar power, or સ્વાવલંબન, self-reliance).

Gujarati puts is at the end

The environment words become sentences once you add છે (chhe - is) at the end, where English would not put it: - સૂર્યની ઊર્જા પર્યાવરણ માટે સારી છે = "solar energy is good for the environment". માટે (mate - for) follows પર્યાવરણ (paryavaran - environment) rather than coming before it. સારી (sari) means "good", and છે closes the sentence. - મને વન્યજીવો ગમે છે = "I like wildlife". Literally "to me wildlife is pleasing". મને (mane) is "to me", and છે closes this one too.
