Its account of the **last days of Jesus** - the Last Supper, the arrest, the trial, the cross and the empty tomb - is central to the question "who is Jesus?". At the Last Supper, over the bread, Jesus said (in the King James Version):

The crucifixion ✝️

Jesus was crucified at Golgotha. Mark records his cry from the cross (King James Version): "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?" When he saw how Jesus died, the Roman centurion said, "Truly this man was the Son of God" (Mark 15:39). For Christians this moment answers the gospel's central question about who Jesus is.
