The four articles

Italian has four ways to say "the" in the singular, and which one you use depends on the noun. il for most masculine nouns (il libro); lo for masculine nouns starting with s+consonant, z, gn or ps (lo sport, lo studente); la for feminine nouns (la musica); and l' before any noun starting with a vowel (l'esame).
