Solving the problems of surgery
Before the nineteenth century, surgery was a desperate last resort. Patients faced three great problems: the agony of pain, dangerous blood loss, and deadly infection after the operation. Over a few decades, scientists found answers to each. This module follows that revolution through anaesthetics, antiseptics and asepsis.
