Going travelling

This module builds your Bengali for travel: leaving and arriving, cities and countries, and getting around when you are away. Each Bengali example is shown with a simple way to say it in brackets, then its English meaning: ভ্রমণ (bhromon) means a trip. A full sentence looks like this: আমি ভ্রমণ ভালবাসি (ami bhromon bhalobashi), meaning I love travelling.

Place names sound close to their English forms, so ঢাকা reads as Dhaka and দুবাই as Dubai. Read the sounds and the place appears. Some travel words are borrowed from English too, like the word for a station platform. Sound them out and listen for the English word inside.

Reading a sentence

Now read a full Bengali sentence, verb last as usual: - আমি বিদেশে যাই (ami bideshe jai) = "I go abroad". Three parts: আমি (ami, "I"), বিদেশে (bideshe, "abroad"), then the verb যাই (jai, "I go") at the end.
