A changing climate 🌡️

A warming climate threatens deciduous woodlands: milder winters and summer **drought** stress the trees, new **pests and diseases** spread more easily, and shifting seasons upset the **timing of the food web**, such as caterpillars emerging before the birds that feed on them. Remember, causes of loss are **biome-specific**: UK woodland is cleared mainly for **building, timber and farming**, not the cattle ranching and mining that drive tropical rainforest loss.
